Studio One Dance Company Classes
Since 2004, Studio One Dance Company has taught a variety of dance forms allowing students of all ages to explore the art of dance. Classes are offered for students (ages 2-adults) who want to have fun and we have offerings for students who want to pursue dance on a more serious level by auditioning for our Competitive Company (ages 5-18). Studio One Dance Company offers the following classes:
Tiny tot balleT & Creative Movement (2-3)
Tiny Tot Ballet & Creative Movement is a FUN introductory dance class for budding ballerinas to gain independence and body awareness. Lessons incorporate ballet basics and creative movement.
Dress Code: leotard with or without tights. Skirt, booty shorts or leggings are also acceptable. We require Pink Split-Sole Ballet Shoes. Boys: athletic wear, Black Split-Sole Ballet Shoes.
Preschool - Ballet, Tap and jazz (Ages 3-5)
Our Preschool Program is an energetic and active introductory program implementing technique, progressions, and short dances to promote coordination, muscle memory, cognitive development, and rhythm while experiencing positive instruction.
Dress Code: leotard with or without tights. Skirt, booty shorts or leggings are also acceptable. We require Pink Split-Sole Ballet Shoes, Tan Mary-Jane Style Tap Shoes and Tan Jazz Shoes. Boys: athletic wear, Black Split-Sole Ballet Shoes and Black Oxford Style Tap Shoes are required.
Elementary – Ballet, Jazz, Tap (Ages 5-7)
Our Elementary Program continues to build upon the basics of Technique learned from previous classes. Combo classes serve as the perfect opportunity for the beginner dancer as we reintroduce Ballet Curriculum and continue to build upon intermediate techniques. These classes help students fall in love and learn to appreciate the performing arts.
Dress Code: leotard with or without tights. Skirt, booty shorts or leggings are also acceptable. We require Pink Split-Sole Ballet Shoes and Tan Slip-On Jazz Shoes. Boys: athletic wear, Black Split-Sole Ballet Shoes and Black Slip-On Jazz Shoes are required. Tap requires Tan Mary-Jane Style Tap Shoes.
Youth – Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical (Ages 7-11)
Our Youth Program continues to build upon the curriculum used in Elementary. Intermediate techniques are used to further our students’ passion for dance. Class is energetic and we structure class with barre and center work in addition, we implement Jazz conditioning, progressions across the floor and short choreographed combos.
Dress Code: leotard with or without tights. Skirt, booty shorts or leggings are also acceptable. Ballet: Pink Split-Sole Ballet Shoes. Jazz: Tan Slip-On Jazz Shoes. Contermpoary: NO SHOES REQUIRED. Lyrical: either Ballet Shoes, Lyrical Shoes, Sock or No Shoes - teacher’s preference for recital. Boys: athletic wear, Black Split-Sole Ballet Shoes and Black Slip-On Jazz Shoes are required.
Teen-Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz (Ages 11+)
Dancers learn the various styles of evolving from our Dance Education Program. All classes begin with a proper warm-up and stretching techniques followed by progressions of turns, leaps, and short combos.
Dress Code: we recommend dancers wear fitted clothing to establish correct body alignment. Contemporary Black Split Sole Jazz Shoes are required.
Hip Hop – elementary, Youth, and Teen
Hip Hop is fun-filled class incorporating street-style moves. Class is tailored based on age and appropriate music is used. The is chance for dancers to get funky on the dance floor and attack their moves.
Dress Code: comfortable athletic wear and Black Nike Tennis Shoes with the White Bottom and White Nike Logo: Comfortable clothes to move in, tennis shoes
Tap – Elementary, Youth, Teen, Adult
All classes are structured to incorporate traditional tap and rhythm tap styles. We focus on rhythmic patterns and clarity of sounds. Students will have a great appreciation on how to count, use timing, and play music with their fancy feet.
Dress Code: leotard and/or fitted tank top. Booty shorts or leggings, tights are not required. Elementary: Tan Mary-Jane Style Tap Shoes. Youth-Adult classes should have the Bloch “Audeo” Black Tap Shoes.
Pointe (Ages 11+)
Dancers will learn classical ballet technique while refining their movements and grace. Class begins at the barre as students learn body awareness, placement, and balance. All of this leads to center work and progressions. Ballet is the foundation for all dance technique and is imperative to the success of each dancer when the appreciation for the art has developed. Dancers must be recommended for Pointe and be enrolled in an additional Ballet Classl.
Dress Code: we recommend dancers wear fitted clothing to establish correct body alignment. Pointe Shoes are required for class.
